Meet Amanda Ledford
Amanda Ledford
Amanda is a native of the beautiful state of Georgia, and has been a fulltime student at WKU for three years. She is one of those deeply driven individuals who is not only strongly self-motivated, but is also perpetually happy and smiling. She approaches each class with resolve, humor, adventure, and love for her students. But best of all, Amanda offers her special gift of compassion to everyone in her class.
She has a great talent for ‘injecting’ her enthusiasm into every person, every breath and movement, and every note of background music in her class.
As a senior at WKU, studying music, Amanda deeply appreciates the emotional and spiritual aspects of having a song in her heart. She is a truly gifted vocalist, and has performed in a number of musical recitals featuring various styles and genres of musical expression. Hot Yoga director Tony Bishop marvels at her vocal prowess, and has suggested that she must have ‘leather lungs’ judging from her power and projection of voice.
Amanda began practicing yoga at Hot Yoga BG during the summer of 2010. She became so “hooked” on the every day practice of yoga that she decided she wanted to become a teacher in the discipline, as she has always viewed fitness in mind, body and spirit as a demonstration of gratitude to God for the bodies he has made for us. She especially liked the Christian spirit and approach to life demonstrated by everyone at Hot Yoga, and enrolled in the HYBG teacher training intensive in November 2010 and is currently teaching and training regularly in Hot Yoga as she works diligently toward her CYT certificate.
Amanda is a multi-faceted young lady, with a love of musical diversity and especially opera, Americana folk-rock, and reggae. She is experienced in several hobbies such as cooking, crocheting, wakeboarding, snowboarding and traveling. She also really enjoys reading and taking trips to Washington state to see a special ‘someone’ who is a big part of her life! Plan to enjoy Amanda’s unique and rewarding classes at Hot Yoga. Her words to live by are “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others.” – Philippians 2:3-4
