Poorvie Patel

Poorvie Patel is a rising junior at WKU, and has been a part of the Hot Yoga family in Bowling Green for 4 years. As an accomplished runner and exercise enthusiast, she is always seeking new and more efficient methods of improving her physical fitness levels – hence her very engaging and physically challenging classes. Poorvie began Hot Yoga as many other aspiring yogins do… with a little skepticism and a lot of curiosity, and then after falling in love with her practice she enrolled in Tony B’s intensive training introduction in November 2010. Since that time she has steadily become one of the most sought-after yoga instructors at HYBG!

Poorvie expresses in her own words how her Hot Yoga ‘journey’ has changed her life:

“ — The first time I stepped into the Hot Yoga studio “yoga room”, I wanted to right back around. And I literally DID. I thought it was way ‘too hot’ and I could not even imagine lasting 5 minutes, let alone 75 minutes! So I went to the dressing room and sat down on one of the benches. I mean, I had never felt like such a loser, just sitting there. That’s when heard good ol’ Tony B's voice yelling, and he was cranking up the music. There was no way I could miss this – “I have to go in and see this guy.” Now fast forward 4 years, and here I am today… an obsessed Hot Yogini!

Planks. Wheel. Downward Dogs. Eagle. You name it; I LOVE it. I had grown up as a dancer, therefore balance and use of the mind to execute physical movements were things I had always adhered to. I continued to go to Hot Yoga at least 4 to 5 times a week, gradually getting less frequent as school and other obligations began to consume a lot of my time. After becoming certified last year, I teach two yoga classes at the Preston Center at WKU and also teach one at a local dance studio… of course, teaching here at Hot Yoga! However, my favorite peace of mind and physical engagement is when I am here at Hot Yoga as the participant, not the teacher. In addition to Hot Yoga, I supplement my physical activities with running and cycling. I am a junior at WKU majoring in political science and cultural anthropology (pre-law) in the Honors College. In addition to being a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority, I am also a WKU student government senator, political enthusiast, world traveler, and avid nature lover. I would welcome you to come attend one of my classes at Hot Yoga Bowling Green, or I will love to see you in one of the many classes I will be attending! Namaste.”
