What Students are Saying!

  • “… Having Hot Yoga display my picture for the October SOKY Happenings Magazine is definitely a humbling experience.
August of 2015 my life changed forever; I was devastated with grief. I don’t recall much from Phillip Leedy ‘s funeral, but one person I do remember seeing was Tony Bishop — “Yoga Daddy”.  Tony’s presence meant a lot to me! He shared some very kinds words and made me fully aware Hot Yoga was there when I was ready. I didn’t feel like doing much of anything the first few months! My anxiety got the best of me, but when I started to come out of the fog, Hot Yoga became my safe place, my calm from the storm! My life began a new journey to find hope and happiness again. No matter how sad, mad, frustrated or confused I was on any certain day, when I was in that room I always felt better.
I’m forever grateful for the kindness and support I received from Tony N Anice Bishop . When I needed a place to just be I had it! I could lay all my saddness down and leave it on my mat. I found myself again in that room. My faith in God, the amazing therapy I received from Rick Roepke and Hot Yoga BG is the only reason I’m in easy pose, ’cause that pose wasn’t so easy for me!
Thank you for giving me a place where I can just be and for making me famous in my daughter Maya’s eyes 😉
    Love You Both♡
    NAMASTE, — Monica

  • Before you all click away at yet another review of a “fad” that everyone is writing about, just know that this one is different. Yes, I tried Hot Yoga for a month, but it wasn’t for the reason most bloggers do.

You see, I am an athlete, a college athlete. Being a college athlete, one of the hardest things you may have to come to terms with is sustaining a serious injury. For many people, like myself, there comes a point where you think that there will be no return to the sport that you held onto so dearly for so long. For some, like myself, you realize that you can’t live without it just yet, and will do anything to get back into it.

That’s where Hot Yoga came into play.

I had heard about it from other friends of mine. Honestly, it wasn’t something that I was the least bit interested in. For so long I was  “in shape” just from going to practice and participating, but after eight months of recovering from back surgery, that wasn’t the case anymore. I had gained 10 pounds, and I could not even come close to touching my toes, and for those of whom who don’t know, in cheerleading, flexibility is a pretty important characteristic to have.

So there I was, out of shape, inflexible, and three months out until my senior year tryout. I was desperate.

It all started on a Saturday afternoon. I read over the instructions for the first time participants maybe twenty times, and I followed them to a tee. I drove to the studio, and sat in my car until I could muster up enough energy to go in.

When I walked in, I was surprised to be greeted by an enormous smile by the owner. After discussing some details about the studio, he escorted me into the studio and helped me put all my belongings where they were supposed to go.

Although that first class was intro-level, I could physically and mentally feel a difference in how I felt after the class. I was hooked.

The first few classes were pretty rough, and I came close to fainting on more than one occasion, but as I said earlier, I was desperate.

I was desperate to get back in shape. I was desperate to be a part of a team again. I was desperate to clinch that part of my identity again.

So, unlike every other workout plan that I made, I stuck with it. I went five times a week, and on the other two days I had mandatory workouts with our strength coach.

After the first two weeks, I started to feel more flexible, I started to feel stronger, I started to feel like myself again. It was absolutely stunning to see the effect that Hot Yoga really had on me. I had lost those ten pounds that I gained post-surgery, and I started to see the muscles that I thought were forever gone.

All in all, Hot Yoga really changed my life for the better. Yes, it takes a lot of time and effort, but so does any lifestyle change. It is all about how much you want it, and I wanted it really bad.

So, my Hot Yoga journey continues. Along with the physical aspect, I have seen other benefits from becoming a dedicated Yogini. I have more energy throughout the day, it’s easier for me to fall asleep, and my concentration on daily tasks has improved.

If anyone is iffy about trying Hot Yoga, my suggestion would be to go ahead and give it a try. You never know how you feel about something until you actually try it. With that being said, it isn’t for the weak at heart. Yoga takes serious practice, and it takes more or less depending on each individual person.

As for me, I am glad that I stumbled into this incredible studio. The people definitely make coming each day something to look forward to.

So, thank you. Thank you for giving me my hope of returning to my sport back.

  • ” … Well, I normally don’t like to brag on myself, but since I started Hot Yoga Bowling Green on July 30th, I have since weighed in on September 4th and have lost a total of 15 pounds. I wish I had measured myself for the inches!  I had injured my meniscus last year, and my knee feels a lot better since starting Hot Yoga. I am so happy that Ashlee Tilford finally talked me into going. If I had only listened to Kimberly Rose Bradley last year when she tried to get me to go.  Thanks, Tony and Anice for everything!”

  • “After hibernating for several months, I finally started back to Hot Yoga. After just a few classes, I feel so much better mentally and physically. I’ve said it before, but I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hot Yoga Bowling Green. I’ve heard people say “Well, I can’t go to yoga…I can’t even touch my toes!”, but that’s all the more reason why you DO need yoga. It is a journey. Whether your body is broken, or your heart is broken, Tony N Anice will use love and yoga to bring you back to life and be better than you’ve ever been.

If any of you would like to give it a try sometime, I’d be glad to join you on the mat for moral support.  🙂

So thankful for Hot Yoga Bowling Green in my life.”

  • “I had spent 20 years exercising in gyms, running, and playing ball. But after several knee surgeries and lower back issues, my wife encouraged me to try Hot Yoga in 2007. So, I began taking classes and learning about yoga. Although I learned quickly that I preferred a physically demanding and slow-paced practice, Hot Yoga Bowling Green offers a diversity of classes (Bikram, Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga,…) and I learned to change routines based on what I needed.

1700 classes and 7 years later, I am still realizing the benefits every day of greater flexibility, balance, strength, and cleansing. There have certainly been some long-term benefits for me as well: I lost 40 lbs. in 2008 and have kept it off. I used to treat sinusitis and bronchitis (twice/year) with antibiotics, but have not been back to the doctor for treatment since beginning yoga. And yoga has been important to me as a great antidote to stress.”

    — Warren Guyer, entrepreneur and family man
  • “I’m in the Thar Desert in India. I am outlasting everyone in the heat and am able to hydrate a lot more than everyone else, too, thanks to Hot Yoga! Thought you may like to know”.  😀

  • “Two months ago, I succumbed to my curiosity and joined a friend to experience Hot Yoga. I have been a cross-trainer for some time and in preparation for going back on tour felt my various workouts were lacking something. Hot Yoga truly is all encompassing! Mind, body and soul are the focus areas for successful golf, and you are able to give them all a workout at the same time in Hot Yoga. The classes provide the ability to work your mind and body as hard or as easy as you like. The soul benefits from the challenge and incremental improvement that is certain to follow. The instructors are fantastic and able to add value to every client regardless of skill level. Everyone was welcoming and extremely helpful to this beginner.

I have experienced many nagging injuries over the years, and recently spent two months in conventional rehabilitation for a neck injury that provided minimal improvement. This last month of regular sessions at Hot Yoga Bowling Green has allowed me to build strength and be pain free! If there are any golfers that fight problems with the back, shoulders and neck and are tired of dosing the ibuprofen before they tee it up, save your stomach and try it! Your body will thank you and it will add distance to your drives. It has for me! Tony and Anice, thank you … I look forward to your classes — a true pleasure.”

    — David, Touring Professional Golfer (40 something)
  • Yoga Results just got real!—“I have been coming to Hot Yoga Bowling Green since they opened the doors 10 years ago. I came in with a laundry list of old physical injuries that I thought I had healed to their fullest extent thru physical therapy, etc… The latest was a shattered foot. I was told that it would heal, but due to nerve damage I would never be able to balance on it again. I had to use the wall for balance for a long time!! But Tony helped me understand how to use the rest of my foot to gain my balance. Although my poses are far from perfect, the sheer joy I feel just being able to do them is overwhelming !! Whatever you think your limitations are (mind, body or spirit), put them aside and just get here. This place can aid in healing anything… They are simply amazing!!”  —
As a health & medical professional, Angela has experienced positive growth at Hot Yoga.

  • “As an athlete, most of my workouts are regimented by strength coordinators. Weight rooms and treadmills have been a staple in my workouts, and as effective as they may be, they become monotonous. Through Hot Yoga, at Hot Yoga Bowling Green, my body gets tested in ways that can’t be found in your everyday gym. I leave every class feeling rejuvenated and I feel as if I have done something great for my body. The staff at Hot Yoga Bowling Green are great and have a wonderful ability to challenge both a Hot Yoga novice, or someone who is more advanced. Do yourself a favor and give Hot Yoga Bowling Green a try!”

    — Jack Snodgrass, San Francisco Giants
  • “It is sheer joy to be in y’all’s presence! Thank you, Tony and Anice Bishop!!!! I love you and look forward to seeing you bright and early Friday morning! I just have to say, even though I can barely hold standing bow, Hot Yoga Bowling Green has helped change my life physically, mentally and spiritually! I no longer take Prilosec, no longer have a high diastolic blood pressure, no longer have “cricks” in my neck–I can even look both ways without any neck stiffness! Plus, when I’m in the room, I feel the Lord’s big hug and love. I absolutely love the joy of the participants no matter how ‘beginner’, how expert, big, small, short, tall, all ages all joining in the journey together. It was definitely a divine appointment when I stumbled into HYBG fifteen months ago!!! Hallelujah!”

    — Billie G., M.D.
  • “My name is Timothy Simpson and I just wanted to send Anice and Tony a brief testimonial about my experience at Hot Yoga of Bowling Green, KY. It was truly one of the great things I have done.

As an opera singer I am aware of how the techniques of breath and body support affect the voice and how important core strength is when performing long operas and rehearsing. Nothing could be better for that than yoga. I admire anyone who walks into that studio and does Hot Yoga. The breathing exercises Tony gave me are unbelievable and the fact that everyone is in growth mode makes the classes non-judgmental. I am obviously not a yoga master, but it is something good to go for.

Tony and Anice Bishop greet everyone with a ”you’re special” attitude that lifts you up when you walk in the door and leave the building after a serious session of Hot Yoga! Every person is treated with respect, kindness but most of all as a person of value to them.

Their genuine enthusiasm is shared by the other trainers at the studio which makes every class a wonderful, yet very serious, workout. I’m really sorry that I had to leave town, but when I return, you will find me in there with the other enlightened warriors, balancing their minds and bodies into a unity of spirit which carries you into the ”world” like nothing else!

I can’t wait to get back in Bowling Green…”

  • Emma discovered the healthy healing in yoga available at Hot Yoga Bowling Green: —“I started going to yoga after being diagnosed with a pelvic floor dysfunction. It caused a whole lot of pain and depression for me. Physical therapy was helping but I knew I needed a supplement and a way to help myself long term. Hot yoga was the best decision I ever made. After the first session I could tell a difference and since starting I have improved immensely. I am so thankful for Tony and Anice being so encouraging to me through my healing process. They remind me to go at my own pace, and to relax! I honestly think I’d still be suffering if it weren’t for them. You both are absolute angels for giving me my life back.” —

  • Yoga practice for fibromyalgia? Margaret enjoys hers at HOT YOGA…” I’ve had a hard time with my fibromyalgia the last month or so, and I called to make an appointment to get a ‘script for Lyrica today. I had gone to Hot Yoga Restorative last night, and when I got home today it hit me….I felt better. My knee wasn’t hurting and neither was my hip. My legs are not aching. I am going to cancel my appointment and continue the yoga. Thanks Tony and Anice Bishop, for your hard work and encouragement!” —

  • With the amazing yoga at Hot Yoga Bowling Green, “I have gone from using a cane to walking unassisted.”

“— Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2007, I had all but lost hope of regaining mobility of my ankles and wrists. The combination of the specialized, healing heat and gentle stretches has slowly and steadily increased not only my flexibility, but also my hope. When I began, I could put no weight on my hands. The ever-supportive instructors provided me with modifications that motivated me to keep going. In six months, I have gone from using a cane to walking unassisted. My wrists can now support me and I am able to use my hands again. My strength waxes and wanes as a result of this terrible disease. The instructors at Hot Yoga Bowling Green are willing and able to work with my unique situation. I cannot thank them enough or overstate my gratitude. My knees work. My hands work. And that makes it where I want to continue to work. Thank you, Hot Yoga Bowling Green.” —

  • Your Journey of “Healing” Yoga in Bowling Green, KY is the BEST right here: For Fibromyalgia patients, Hot Yoga is GREAT! — “I can’t even tell you how grateful I am that you’ve brought Hot Yoga to Bowling Green! A few years ago I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and after a year of spending a small fortune on prescriptions and not feeling any relief, I started to research other treatment alternatives. Yoga kept coming up as an option, but since I barely had the energy to get through my normal daily routine, I thought I’d never make it through a 90-minute class and be able to function the next day. I was very active growing up and well into my 20’s but as my symptoms progressed I became increasingly frustrated with myself and this condition. I couldn’t remember the last good night of sleep I’d had, or the last time I could just go enjoy being active without wondering how much pain I’d be in later. When my doctor offered antidepressants as a next step of treatment I decided a trip to Hot Yoga sounded like a better plan. It’s been worth it in so many ways. With continued practice I’m finding that I sleep better at night and have more energy during the day. My flexibility is increasing as is my self-confidence and general sense of well-being. I no longer feel like my life is being controlled by fibromyalgia. You both deserve so much credit for creating an atmosphere where people of any ability level can feel comfortable and successful in their yoga practice. Not only your depth of knowledge, but your compassion for each and every individual that comes through your door is such a blessing. Thank you so much for helping so many improve their quality of life!” —

  • For Fighting Scoliosis, Hot Yoga is the way! — “I just wanted to share my thoughts with anyone who has scoliosis, and is considering doing Hot Yoga. I have scoliosis, and have been coming to Hot Yoga Bowling Green classes for several months now. I truly LOVE it, and I’m sure it has strengthened my back. I don’t consider myself to be flexible, but I can tell a major difference in my body ever since the first class. I am a chiropractic patient, and my doctor encourages me to come to Hot Yoga, but at the same time to listen to my body, and if I feel that there is a certain posture or exercise that causes me pain, then I should eliminate that or only go to the level that feels comfortable — which is also Tony’s way of instructing. Everyone’s body is different whether you have scoliosis or are in great physical shape. What may be good for one person may not be good for another. I just know that the heat and humidity allow me to move and bend much more freely, without pain, and in doing so I feel I’m much more in tune with my body by practicing Hot Yoga. After my first class, the thing that really “hooked” me was how my body felt so relaxed and “at ease” afterward. And after many years of always feeling some sort of tension in my back, I had NONE! It was amazing. So, there you have my feedback… I highly recommend Hot Yoga to everyone, to at least try a class. If I can be of any further help, or can provide any advice as far as issues of the back and spine, I’d be happy to talk with anyone who wants to contact Tony or Anice at Hot Yoga Bowling Green and let them know!” —

  • “I have participated in three different classes in the past week at the Hot Yoga Studio here in Bowling Green, KY. I was never interested in the discipline of yoga for several reasons…. not energetic enough for me, had a ‘new age” feel, and I’m not that fond of pretzels nor the idea of my body being shaped like one. At the insistence of a friend (who will remain nameless and has yet to attend a class), I put my Private Investigating skills to use and checked out the https://hotyogabowlinggreen.com/
website. After reading Tony and Anice Bishops’ comments, I knew before even meeting them that I would love them and like them….really like them. I had asked for a yoga mat for Christmas, so…I picked up my mat and walked myself into the studio (well, after four weeks of lazy excuses, waiting for the holiday food hangover to wear off, being sick, and trying to coordinate schedules with my friend (yeah, the one who still hasn’t gone). Up and out-half the battle won!!

Back to my review…First step in the door, I felt at home- God’s peace and love were evident. Then I walked in the “hot” room (over 100 degrees). I like heat and sweating, that was the big draw for me (purifying my system). Thankfully, my first class was “Restorative” with Anice. Though it wasn’t as hot as the fiery furnace the three Hebrew guys survived (thanks be to God), I had forgotten what 100 degrees felt like, especially after coming in from a 37 degree day. I didn’t melt and oddly enough didn’t sweat that much (more concerned about the muscles I now am keenly aware of and hadn’t noticed prior). Two days later I was back for a “real” yoga class (here’s the pretzel part) with Tony!! No pressure to injure oneself, but encouraged to challenge oneself. It would help if I could balance on one foot, but that’s where practice and patience comes in. I enjoyed it- a lot- and sweated- a lot! Back to Anice’s Body Sculpt class 4 days later. Anice is “a-nice”, gentle, kind and is everyone’s “momma” hence the title of “yoga momma”…..until leg lift and stomach crunch time-no softy there! I got my sweat on or out and had more energy leaving the studio than I did upon entering. Was going to go running with the friend who has yet to make it to yoga class, but she bailed on me….again!

I feel calmer, purified, and though my muscles may be a tad sore, they feel longer and more agile. You know the old saying, “move it, or lose it”, or something like that. Go with a friend, go alone…just GO! Call about their “buy one class, get one class free”. Contact me, I’ll meet you there and we can “pretzel” together. That’s not a yoga term- that I know of, but I am still new at this!

    God’s blessings abound- look up!!”
    Bobbi Cooper

  • “Hi everyone, I just wanted to share a little about my experiences with Hot Yoga Bowling Green. I started taking Hot Yoga right after they opened their studio in BG. I was a WKU student and very new to “Yoga” in general, and I was your typical gym junkie and dancer who was getting bored with workouts. I was so excited to try something new and to give yoga a chance. Once I realized with Hot Yoga, I got a much better workout than with any other type of activity (plus it was FUN and gentle to my body) , I became addicted. Now I’m a “Hot Yogi” of nearly 5 years, and going every day – never planning to stop!

Tony and Anice are amazing people and their classes are just AWESOME! The first week and the week after that are the hardest, I’m not going to lie to you. But this practice will change your life forever. If it is not only the body changes you experience then it will be the warm family which you get welcomed into. You will fall in love with all the amazing people who teach as well as the people taking classes with you, just like I did!

The routines are always new and fun and the MUSIC is also amazing. I wish everyone would at least try it for 10 days, and if you’re not hooked… then I don’t know what else to say!”  🙂

    — Samantha, Professional Photographer, 2010
  • “Hot Yoga has really stretched out my body and I have become much stronger and leaner than I ever was when attending the gym regularly and running. My concentration and focus in the classes has increased. Hot Yoga is very addictive. I tell my friends that I used to get massages when my body was achy and tight, but now I do Hot Yoga. I get a great workout, plus afterwards my body feels as though I just had a full body massage. The benefits last longer than any massage, so there is really no comparison.”

    — Teri, former gym addict (30 something)
  • “I knew I had found my niche when I walked into one of my very first Hot Yoga classes and heard some of the best music on earth playing. It was so amazing to me that this place promoted relaxing to rock and roll!! So many misnomers about yoga exist and my favorite one is that some people think it’s boring and mundane, the same each day. Nothing is further from the truth! A place where great friends and great music come to meet to improve their mind, body, and spirit… how can that be anything but exciting?

I initially came to Hot Yoga so that it could serve as one area of cross-training for my running. It did serve as an excellent way to improve my breathing and stamina. The results of my dedication were evident when I completed my first marathon. I experienced almost no shortness of breath and while those around me complained about the heat, I laughed as I mentally compared it to the 100 degree room back in Bowling Green! An article in Runners World magazine even encouraged runners to do yoga: “Yoga is the ultimate complement to running. You contract all those muscles, and yoga restores them.” I will warn runners about one thing: You may very possibly become more addicted to Hot Yoga than running. A year ago I told my friends and family, “I just go to Hot Yoga because it helps me to stay injury-free while running.” Now I say, “I run to improve my Hot Yoga practice.” 🙂 When I am planning out my day, I don’t ask myself IF I will go to Hot Yoga, but instead WHEN. I have come to the conclusion that although it takes time, my day is much more productive as a whole when I spare a fraction of the 24 for a little over 1 hour of Hot Yoga.

Though I love the way that Hot Yoga has improved my mind and body, I am most thankful for the way that it blesses my spiritual life. Yoga helps me to take time to “be still and know that He is God.” (Psalm 46) Hot Yoga is truly all about the journey; there is no ultimate destination. Never will Tony and Anice have a ceremony for certain students, congratulating them for reaching the “top of their game.” Instead, as each student walks in, they are each treated equally and lifted up with encouragement for that particular day. Each day is a new beginning… and there is something to be said about being able to start over again each day. I think this is why it’s become the place where I have my daily quiet time with God… just as Jesus Christ forgives me for my imperfections, giving me the grace to be renewed each day, Hot Yoga Bowling Green’s studio is a place that encourages that, also.”

    — Ashley, ‘Kids on the Block’ Director, Marathon Runner & Grant Writer
  • “Hey Guys, I just wanted to give you a compliment. I know you are working hard every day and remembering faces, growing the business and trying to satisfy all of your customers’ needs. It is tough when you are asking people to actually work hard and be open to a “new” way of growing an extremely difficult area in which to grow. Your teamwork is what makes all of us want to “give it our everything” while we are in the yoga room together… I think a lot of people are really starting to get the basic principles which are almost as hard to learn as some of the postures. Anyway, keep up the hard work, as I know there will be days when you think you are “just a studio” or a “gym”, but I promise there is so much more to Hot Yoga Bowling Green than any of those stigmas. Hot Yoga has YOU, and that is something that no other place in the WORLD has. Your knowledge, leadership, and your way of life will be the catalyst. I am so glad you are here. I continue to be amazed with my progress and your patience. I want to thank you for all the help you give me and all the attention that you give us in class. I continue to market you by word of mouth to whomever I see. Thanks for your constant awareness and vision!”

    — Tyler, former WKU baseball pitcher, 2008
  • “A few years ago,  just after birthday number 51, I made a very smart move. I went to Hot Yoga Bowling Green. At that point in my life, my knees were buckling from the pain of arthritis, I had overall body stiffness, back pain from 4 herniated discs, hip numbness and pain from a pinched nerve, and heart palpitations.

Because of these symptoms, I had to give up running and step aerobics and wasn’t really sure what I would do to remain active. Hot Yoga was a perfect match for me. Although I cannot execute every posture full out, I still reap unbelievable benefits from trying. Hot Yoga is a total body workout (cardio, strength, flexibility and balance).

During the past 2 years of practicing Hot Yoga I have experienced numerous benefits. Some were immediate and some occurred over time as I realized my potential and applied modifications. The most immediate benefit occurred after only 1 WEEK of Hot Yoga – my heart palpitations completely stopped! I thank the “eagle” posture for that!

During the months that followed, I experienced other improvements as well – improved flexibility (which also improved my muscular strength), much greater balance (I was “hopping” all over my mat those first few weeks!) , decreased back and knee pain (due to improved posture, stronger abs and supporting muscles in back and legs) , great stamina (I noticed this in my swimming, biking and hiking), and much improved ability to achieve a relaxed state 🙂 Practicing Hot Yoga has conditioned me to take that deep cleansing breath when I am irritated or anxious and my body relaxes quickly, automatically. It is a learned response from practicing Hot Yoga.

We are very fortunate to have the Hot Yoga studio in Bowling Green, and even more fortunate to have such awesome instructors as Tony and Anice. Tony and Anice are true teachers in that they do not prescribe a “one size fits all” mentality to achieving the postures. Rather, they show you how to modify if that’s what is needed or how to amp it up to the next level… if that’s what is appropriate for you. They allow their students to practice at their own level. Hot Yoga will always be a part of my life!”

    — Jan, Family Counselor, 2009
  • “I was introduced to Hot Yoga by pure accident. My first class was way harder than I anticipated and much more of a workout than I could have ever imagined. Once I got home and really began fo feel the effects of my workout, I became hooked. Well, honestly, the more apt description is addicted.

First, I think it is evident that Tony and Anice truly care about their customers. They have created a welcoming and non-competitive environment. They also offer postitive encouragement and it is evident they want their customers to enjoy yoga. Tony and Anice also strive to make sure everyone feels completely comfortable working at their own pace. Sure, there are people there that are more advanced, but Tony and Anice, and the other instructors, encourage you to do what you can. All the instructors are affirming to all students, no matter their level.

Secondly, the workout itself is so challenging. It is sometimes hard to get everything tucked and sucked in, but even if you aren’t always perfect with your postures, you will see results. I am definitely living proof of that. To date I have lost over 70 pounds. I have changed my eating some, but my only exercise has been Hot Yoga. I can’t believe the changes I have seen in my body shape, nor can I believe the strength I have gained. I also want to add that you don’t have to be flexible to come to Hot Yoga. When I first started, I could not even bend over and touch my toes. However, I did come and did what my body would allow. I have improved faster in some poses than others, but the point is that I continue to improve and grow in my yoga practice.

Thirdly, I must add how much Hot Yoga has made me feel less stressed. Coming to class really does help me let go of the stressors that work, home, life, etc. piles on me. Now, I get stressed when I can’t come to class! Plus, when I sleep now, I get a wonderful night of rest and feel much more refreshed in the morning.

Lastly, to correct a misnomer, yoga is much, much more than just stretching. I could go on and on about Hot Yoga, but no one wants to read a book here. Seriously, anyone who wants to try Hot Yoga should do so. My best advice is not to judge Hot Yoga based on a single class experience. My initial thoughts after my first class literally changed during the time it took me to drive home. This is absolutely the best workout I have ever done. I should also add that I played basketball in high school and taught aerobics all through college and grad school. I led a fairly active life except for the past few years when I got fat and terribly out of shape. Hot Yoga is as challenging as any other exercise I have done in my life and the results have been amazing!

Thank you, Tony and Anice for bringing Hot Yoga to Bowling Green and into my life!!”

  • “I am happier and in better shape than I have ever been in my life, and I owe much of this success to Tony, Anice, and HOT YOGA Bowling Green!

When I first started practicing about a year and a half ago, I was 25 pounds heavier and definitely physically and mentally weaker. I thought when I first entered the studio: “Seriously!.. it’s HOT!” — and I never thought I would make it. Now I am absolutely addicted and LOVE to sweat it out whenever I get the chance!

The feelings of calm, substance, success and thankfulness at the end of each class keep me coming back religiously. I also love the opportunity to quiet my mind and focus on the many blessings in my life.

For those of you thinking about giving it a try, I say, “What are you waiting for?!” It’s so much more than just a workout, but on the other hand it is the best workout you will ever experience ( p.s. — you will begin to sleep like a baby with regular practice, too ).

Also, for those who are seriously trying to shed pounds, I suggest the fat-melting combo of Hot Yoga and Weight Watchers. Yes, I said Weight Watchers — because the program teaches how to eat healthy and in proper portions. Then, leave it to Hot Yoga to sculpt that sexy body that was under all those extra pounds!

I love seeing new faces and successes in the studio, and I would love to share my testimonial with anyone … even the worst skeptics! My best advice for would-be Hot Yoga practitioners is to remain focused on your body and concentrate on your breathing. Pretend no one else is in the room and you’re on your way!”

  • “It’s been seven months since I started practicing yoga at Hot Yoga Bowling Green. I had done a bit on my own before and attended a few classes elsewhere, but couldn’t seem to stick with it and sometimes had lower back pain for days after. I’ve had a “bad back” since I was a teenager and it’s often kept me from doing all the things I like to do. I’m almost 30 now, and in the short time I’ve been attending classes at HYBG my back pain has all but disappeared! I’ve lost 15 lbs. and have gained more muscle than I ever thought possible. The strength, flexibility, and endurance I’ve developed in hot yoga have allowed me to run farther than ever before, and I now shrug off hot Southern weather without a problem.

The instructors at HYBG are absolutely fantastic. They always motivate me to learn more about yoga and to push myself just a little further. Thank you Hot Yoga Bowling Green!”

  • “I have been a member of Hot Yoga Bowling Green for almost 2 years. I graduated Navy bootcamp this past February, and Hot Yoga helped me get into the best possible shape before I left. I stepped up my game about 2 months before leaving by going to Hot Yoga two, sometimes three times a day. Trust me, you become addicted! No matter what class or teacher you go to, you will get a total body workout. Tony keeps the room a little more hot than the other instructors, but overall the workout’s much the same.

Planks/pushups are my favorite (ask yoga mama) because they got my upper body really cut, which was a blessing when I had to do pushups at 4 a.m. in bootcamp! Tony kicked by butt, literally, with his sun gods and chairs.

What’s really cool is usually if there’s a target area you’d like to get more work on, the instructors have no problem incorporating or focusing poses on a certain area. The whole staff are amazing people who I am blessed to have met. They’ll always hold very special places in my heart. If you have any hesitations about class, give them a call and they will be happy to explain any questions you may have.”

  • “I have been teaching and taking Hot Yoga for quite some time. I’ve recently gotten the opportunity to take several classes from Tony Bishop. He is fantastic! As a teacher, for me it has been a joy to be a “student” for a change. And, being his student I have obtained a renewed sense of enthusiasm for the Hot Yoga that I love. He has a presence that makes you work hard, but treat yourself gently all at the same time. He has a presence that just uplifts you and makes you appreciate the ability you have within – he draws it out! I want to take his class whenever I can. Tony – thank you so much for your sincere approach to a beautiful and challenging class.”

  • — “I’m 55 years old with arthritis and frequent skeletal aches and pain. Flexibility is the key to my future, and Hot Yoga is the BEST way I can achieve a flexible body.

The classes are structured, well organized and the instructors encourage participation and assist in proper positioning. There are many bonuses to Hot Yoga. I have experienced balance, strength, cardiac fitness, flexibility, weight loss and better hydration by attending Hot Yoga classes. Finally, Hot Yoga offers the opportunity to meet some great people! Take time to give it a try. I’ll see you THERE!” —

    — Rob, Healthcare Professional — and Arthritis patient
  • “Thanks, guys! Hot Yoga is GREAT for me, especially this week after being sick for a week before. This is just what I needed!!!

I came to Hot Yoga looking for stress relief and more flexibility, which I didn’t expect to ever accomplish due to my job (stress!) and my knee injury and car wreck (flexibility issues) but I have gained BOTH and see improvements each day that I attend class. I have also received something that I wasn’t expecting. Prior to coming to Hot Yoga, I had to see a chiropractor at least every three weeks, as the result of being hit by a drunk driver 2 years ago. Since beginning Hot Yoga, I have not made one appointment with my chiropractor — something I never thought I would be able to do!

I LOVE coming to all the classes, as each brings something different — a new experience. I love that it pushes me each day. Unlike the gym, it is never redundant, always something NEW, a new breakthrough for me personally or seeing someone else in class make a breakthrough and get excited because they have.

Thanks guys, for bringing Hot Yoga to Bowling Green. You all do a wonderful job teaching and making everyone feel welcome. I don’t think I have ever been to a gym where each of the people who work there know me on a first-name basis and take time to say hi like you guys do — with everyone! That is AWESOME!!!!!!”

  • “Tony and Anice, I want to thank you for bringing Hot Yoga to Bowling Green. As you know, I started with your program in late March. In less than four months I have lost 13 pounds, added muscle and definition and lost over an inch from my waistline. More importantly, my cholesterol score went from a ratio of 5.1 down to 3.8!

In addition to these great physical benefits, I have also received great mental and emotional benefits. I am much more productive at work, have great clarity of thought and am able to approach my work with a calmness that is unprecedented in my career. I have also made some good friends, as well as many good acquaintances.

While Hot Yoga is a demanding workout, it provides tremendous dividends. I also appreciate the fact that you have allowed me to progress at my own pace, completely deemphasizing the competition. Instead, you have focused on your students’ well-being, stressing that each student should progress slowly on their journey toward fitness, doing only what they are capable of doing on a particular day. It is also amazing how non-competitive the environment is, even though people are working very hard. Even though there are many students that are much better at Hot Yoga than I am, I have never felt a sense of self-consciousness.

I have always tried to maintain some level of fitness (sometimes I have done better at it than others). This is clearly the BEST exercise regimen that I have ever done. I wish you continued success, both for you and the members of this community that can benefit greatly from Hot Yoga!

    —– Namaste”

  • “Hot Yoga! I love it! It has brought my body from a mysterious illness to a healthy, vibrant body. This time last year I could barely walk. I had received my second steroid shot per hip, was restricted to my bed and in 24/7 pain from my waist down. I was a medical mystery to physicians locally, as well as Vanderbilt and Jewish Hospitals. But today, I am HEALTHY once again thanks to Hot Yoga. Months ago, I viewed a commercial for Hot Yoga and could feel God pushing me to check it out. But in the past, simply walking at the mall caused harm and pain to my body so, I had my reservations. On April 12, I received my final and huge push from God to just go, inquire and then take action.

So I did. I arrived 30 minutes early to thoroughly seek counsel, advisement and comfort. Next thing I know, I’m in the class and my limited body is actually capable of moving (gently) and holding poses. After the first class, I felt good from the inside out. I was calm, relaxed, refreshed and ALIVE.

I had the opportunity to attend three Hot Yoga classes prior to my weekly medical appointment. Instantly, my physician could see a difference in my eyes. He said, “Something has changed about you — I can see it in your eyes“. I said with complete joy, “Yes, for the first time in over 12 months, I feel GOOD!”

This appointment was one of the shortest ever, since there was not much my doctor needed to do for me. He “prescribed” at least 3 Hot Yoga classes per week for me! From this weekly appointment, I returned in two weeks, and now I am scheduled for a monthly check up! My body needs Hot Yoga and I am so thankful and grateful that we have this available here in Bowling Green. I look forward to a long, relaxing membership at Hot Yoga Bowling Green!”

    — Lorie Ann, recipient of “Hot Yoga” PRESCRIPTION from doctor!
  • “First I have to say, thank you so much for bringing Hot Yoga to Bowling Green! I cannot begin to tell you what a blessing you have been at a much needed time. My family has been through such an emotional time over the past several months due to a very unexpected health issue that almost took my husband’s life. I saw your studio one day and stopped in to talk to you, and it seemed right then that this was something that I needed to try out. For the last three months you have welcomed me with open arms and such a positive spirit. You have such a wonderful outlook on life that is so encouraging to see. I honestly do not know what shape I would be in right now physically or mentally without the amazing classes you are providing. With the help of Hot Yoga and my faith in God you have allowed me to continue to push forward to get through this trial in my family’s life. Thanks so much for taking such great care of me every single time I walk through the door!”

    — Ashley, wife and mother (30 something)
  • “Tony, I just wanted to thank you for welcoming me to Hot Yoga and for your continual support. I truly have found a type of workout that I will practice throughout my life. I have enjoyed getting to know you, and will continue my journey in yoga. Thanks again!  Namaste… Angie”

    — Angie, recent WKU Graduate (20 something)
  • “Each bride strives to control the details of her wedding in order to make it unique and special to her down to the most minute details of flowers, colors, candles, music and so on. Despite all of the aspects that must be considered when planning a wedding, every bride past, present and future has always and will always place the utmost importance on one detail that universally unites us all: how good we look in our wedding dress. Women have tried fad diets, being shoehorned into a bustle, hypnotization and everything in between to produce the desired result of looking their absolute best on the most important day of their life. I had been active as far as running and exercising when it came time to start getting ready for my big day but I felt something was missing. I needed something to really push me into the best shape of my life. Luckily, I discovered Hot Yoga. Curiosity got me going in the studio door and I’ve haven’t stopped going since. The regular sessions were more than I could have ever hoped for. I got the physical workout that I had initially sought but I also got the peace of mind that comes with regularly practicing the discipline. Calmness, tranquility, peace of mind, and enhanced breathing are all positive side effects that are beneficial for any woman navigating the rigors of daily life and especially so for the woman with a wedding dress to get into. I was able to stay focused and not feel so overwhelmed throughout the demanding, and sometimes stressful, process of planning my wedding. Regular Hot Yoga practice helped me to feel confident as I stood in front of the mirror on my special day. The look on my husband’s face when he first saw me in my dress walking towards him on the beach justified every session I made it through and then some. I am thankful for discovering Hot Yoga for not only getting me ready for my wedding day, but for also for the mental and physical benefits I continue to get as my devotion to the practice continues to this day. I never pass on the opportunity to recommend it to my girlfriends either whether they are getting ready for their own wedding day or simply looking for something gratifying that they can stick with. If they don’t believe me, I have them ask my husband…who has his own yoga mat.”

    — Monica, Family Therapist with husband, Josh, 2010
  • “So here goes…I don’t like to brag, but since I started Hot Yoga two months ago, I don’t have back, neck or shoulder issues; tension headaches are gone; cholesterol is down; I don’t crave processed sugars like I used to; don’t go to the chiropractor anymore , and I’m getting in shape for the first time in… my life… ahhhhhh, life can be sweet!”

    — Felicia – Court Reporter, 2010
  • “Being a serious runner and cardio buff prior to enrolling at Hot Yoga, I now can easily rely on my Hot Yoga classes for a full body workout that continues to challenge my body with each session. Hot Yoga has truly transformed me both physically and mentally. Not only have the classes and private lessons helped me lengthen and strengthen my body and core — it’s helped me breathe through life and the crazy things that happen in it. Now I find my time spent at Hot Yoga to be not only physically challenging and invigorating, but also so intensely RELAXING, as I learn to become more in touch with my inner mind, body, and soul. I started for purely physical benefits, but now I have that, PLUS a greater sense of peace and well-being that I never knew I was missing!”

    — Melissa, Cardio Addict (29)
  • “I wanted to express how grateful I am that you have brought Hot Yoga to this area. I admit that when my daughter told me she had gone to a yoga class that was done in a room that was heated to over 100 degrees, I told her that it did not sound like fun to me. She said that it was one of the hardest things she had ever done, that she felt great after it was over and she couldn’t wait until the next class. Well, now I understand. I also feel great after each class and I look forward to the next class.

I chose to attempt the challenge of a class EVERY day because I knew that I wanted to be at Hot Yoga daily, or as much as I could possibly be there. It was a challenge, but not because of the yoga — that was the easy part. The challenge was in rearranging my daily schedule to include about 2 hours (plus drive time of an hour each way) that was devoted to MYSELF. The rewards have been worth the effort. To say that I feel healthier is such an understatement. Each class has and continues to infuse me with a renewed sense of strength and purpose.

Now, I know that feeling good is important, but let’s look at the rewards that are more concrete: In my case, high blood pressure seems to be a genetic concern. I’ve had 3 close family members to suffer massive strokes before the age of 60 — my father died at the age of 56. For the last four years my blood pressure has been rising each year, despite anything I tried. Since beginning Hot Yoga, my blood pressure has dropped from 152/92 to 110/74 within six weeks. I have waited a couple of weeks and rechecked it, and it is STILL down. There are other lab values that have improved also. My glucose level is down, and my triglycerides are down by 30 points.

As a nurse, I am still digesting this news, and am overwhelmed with the power of Hot Yoga. It has exceeded any expectations I had. I believe that Hot Yoga is a very valuable tool for maintaining one’s health — emotionally, physically and spiritually. I, or course, tell everyone I know about Hot Yoga. I continually tell everyone that if I can do this at age 49, overweight and , yes, “out of shape”, anyone can do it and reap great benefits. And to think I began Hot Yoga with the intention of not feeling so stiff and aching in all my joints on a daily basis, which by the way is much improved. Again, thank you Hot Yoga!”

    — Carolyn, Nurse (50 something)
  • “I feel that every aspect of Hot Yoga is beneficial to anyone who does it. Sure, my clothes fit better now. Yes, I’m more flexible. But what I reap the most from every class I take is the overall sense of calm and the fact that I am so much healthier now than I ever was, even when I was working out at a gym four times a week. Each class is a new experience and it’s something everyone needs to try!”

    — Tabitha, “20 something”
  • “The studio is clean, beautiful and calm. There is a vibe that is very pleasant without being in-your-face. The asana practice leaves you feeling mentally calm and positive and physically challenged and energized.

It was the first time I had understood why my friends converted to yoga from working out at a gym. I had previously thought it was too “crunchy granola” and the people who practiced yoga with dedication (at least the people I encountered) were jumping on the bandwagon of the latest fitness “trend”. I also thought if you were going to work out, if you were motivated to finally move and do something active, that yoga didn’t count as real exercise. The holding of the poses and such — whenever I did it I felt like a phony. With Hot Yoga, my long-held opinions were radically REVERSED. It was certainly energetic… I most certainly felt I had done a lot of aerobic work while at the same time I felt very stretched out and limber. I felt GREAT. I felt I had accomplished something, and I exercised and had FUN. Those two words never used to go together.”

    — David K., “typical guy” (33)
  • “I really enjoy Hot Yoga and come almost daily. I have had a lot of problems with my IT band due to running and cycling. While I try to make sure I always stretch out, I don’t think I was doing enough. Ever since I have started Hot Yoga, I have not had one single problem with my IT band. Plus, I am totally addicted! People who haven’t done this yoga have no comprehension of what a huge workout it is — this is a REAL workout and that I never believed before coming to class — it is a challenge for me daily and I can feel every muscle being touched in my body. It just makes you feel so amazing afterwards.”

    — Sarah, athlete (“20 something”)
  • “I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the Hot Yoga studio. I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 10 years now, and I see myself going through stages. One moment, I am adamant about learning everything there is to learn about yoga, and the next moment I’ll be more relaxed in my quest — appreciating the subtle joys that yoga brings just with casual practice. Still, throughout my “yoga journey”, I’ve tried a myriad of teachers and yoga styles, and I find that no style fits me as beautifully, or speaks to me as joyously as that which you instill at Hot Yoga. You are true to the goodness of yoga, toward making people feel good about themselves and their bodies, and about providing challenges and goals in a setting that allows students to follow their own pace and needs. I consider this remarkable, as much as yoga studios try to diversify and claim to be “the best” within a particular niche, you set a tone of acceptance and a willingness to listen to the needs of an array of students.”
